Holy crap, the HUGO Award-issuing convention is in KC this year, and it is suddenly upon us this Aug 17-21! =) A five-day extravaganza like no other, the KC name for WorldCon is MidAmericon II (but don't let that confuse you). Famous authors, HUGO voting, tons of once-in-a-lifetime programming, and also a huge tabletop gaming area in the main hall at Bartle and a 24-hour tabletop game area at the Marriott.

This is a free event.

WorldCon

It's official! WorldCon, the HUGO Award-issuing World Science Fiction Convention is in KC this year, Aug 17-21! Free RPG Day

It's that time of year again! Free RPG Day is coming Saturday, June 18, 2016 to game stores all around the metro.

We'll be hosting events at Game Cafe is Indepdence, and Hometown Games in Lawrence.

What is Free RPG Day, you ask? From their website:

Established in 2007, Free RPG Day works with participating hobby game retailers and RPG publishers to bring new and exclusive RPG quickstart rules and adventure modules into the hands of gamers.

Consumers WORLDWIDE will be able to grab brand new material for a variety of RPGs --- no overstock, retail-priced or dead product here. The goal of Free RPG Day is to inspire gamers to play a new RPG, which will in turn, create sales through local game stores. Use the retailer locator to find a participating store near you!

To support this event and our friendly local game stores, Guild members will be running games in the KC metro area. BorderwarsBorderwars, the annual convention of the Heart of America Historical Miniature Gaming Society (HA-HMGS) is just around the corner May 13-15, 2016 at the Overland Park Ramada, 7240 Shawnee Mission Pkwy, Overland Park, KS.

Borderwars features miniatures (historical, fantasy, and steampunk), a DBA tournament, Highlander CCG, board games, and card games. All that, plus a silent auction and dealers new and old with wares to suit every taste!

Midwest GameFest

The Role-players Guild of Kansas City is pleased to announce the return of Midwest GameFest in 2016! Attendees can enjoy four fantastic days of tabletop hobby games of all kinds, from role-playing games, LARPs, and social games, to board games, card games, and historical and fantasy miniatures games! There will also be great panels and workshops, and a wonderful array of exhibitors with all manner of hobby gaming-related products. There will be some great special guests, and this year we'll even have a variety of cosplay events. All this and more are brought to you by The Role-players Guild of Kansas City, Borderwars, and the Gamers Haven Game Library!

Where: Stoney Creek Hotel and Conference Center, Independence, Missouri
