Submission Guidelines If you’re interested in submitting to Guildletters, here are some general guidelines for you to follow. The guidelines outlined below are primarily for writers interested in submitting articles. If you are submitting a Letter to the Editor or requesting that a classified ad be placed, you don’t have to follow these submission guidelines. Submission Format First of all, make sure that your article is complete. Secondly, please do not try to make the manuscript look fancy by using artistic fonts; these are more difficult to read. Guildletters is interested in what you have written and how it is constructed; a simple font will do. Most importantly, the work must be your own. If you use material from other sources, you must accurately identify your sources. Make sure that quotes match exactly with your source. Be careful not to plagiarize (do not take someone else's writings and attempt to present them as your own). Authors bear full legal responsibility for their writing. Finally, I reserve the right to edit any submissions for grammar corrections. Article manuscripts should follow The Chicago Manual of Style if you’re that enthusiastic about ensuring proper style. Otherwise, depend on your editor to ensure style consistency. If you write something for a specific game, though, be sure to follow that game’s style guide if you can. For instance, be sure to italicize the names of spells if you’re writing articles to supplement the d20 system, and definitely be sure to follow the SRD version of the PH, not the actual book. You can sometimes find style guidelines for each game line on their website somewhere. Additionally, unless you're using open source rules, you'll need permission from the publisher accompanying your submission. Include a brief description of the article submitted. If possible, zip any large files. I have a limit on how much stuff I can accept at the above email address. We cannot assume responsibility for the transit and safekeeping of articles and other materials sent to us. Always keep at least one personal copy of each of your articles. What Do We Want? You can send in a variety of different types of articles. If you have a review of a game or movie or even novel, feel free to send that in. If you have a gaming article, send that here, too. If you want to share your favorite quotes from your gaming table, that’s acceptable material, as well. You can also send in poetry, art, captioned photos, or whatever you fancy. The main thing to keep in mind is that it should somehow relate to the gaming industry and that you should keep it clean. Special Notice: Events If you have an event that you wish to have listed in the right sidebar on the main Guildletters page, you need to submit it in the following format to the Scribe by the due date for the next month’s newsletter. Any dates that come in after the due date are NOT going to go up unless the Scribe is making another adjustment to the site for whatever reason. (In other words, if you’re late, you have a 99% chance of being out of luck.) Here’s the format: Event name: What is the name of your event? Event time: When does your event start and end? What day is it? Event location: Where is your event? Event coordinator: Who should people contact to join in on the fun? Event description (optional): Keep it to 100 words. Include things like what you need to bring, what the event is about, and so on. If your location isn’t a public one, this is where you include directions and an address.
